Tanya Anderson
Elder Care Coordinator
Tanya is a proud Rhode Island College alumna, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Justice Studies in 2014 at forty-three. As a single mother working full-time, attending college full-time, and caring for her father with Alzheimer's disease, she was honored to receive the twenty-fifth annual Mary Ann Hawkes Justice Studies Award from Rhode Island College for her academic and community achievements. In 2023, Tanya earned her Health, Life, and Accident Broker's license, which allows her to educate Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries and their adult children on healthcare options tailored to their individual needs. Tanya’s professional and personal experience in elder care coordination is extensive, including maneuvering, accessing, and coordinating care for older and disabled adults, a skill honed through caring for her own parents and family members. Tanya’s initial certification as a Case Manager was obtained in 1993 while working in behavioral healthcare.
With fifteen years of leadership experience in healthcare and Long-Term Care Coordination (LTCC) across various sectors, including managed care, value-based primary care for Medicare recipients, and long-term care community-based services such as assisted living, nursing homes, skilled and private duty homecare, and durable medical equipment, she has held several leadership positions in corporate and nonprofit sectors and contractor roles with the RI Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Department of Human Service.
Tanya leads with integrity, meaning she does the right thing even when no one is watching, adhering to rules and regulations. Before graduating from Rhode Island College in 2014, Tanya graduated from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy in 2006 and served as a Police Officer. She received her Certified Case Manager Certificate in 1992, which was implemented by RI Mental Health, Retardation, and Hospitals, now known as RI Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities.
